Agribusinesses and investors are increasingly driving small farmers off their land, particularly in the world’s poorest countries. According to local leaders, the farmers do not own the land, although they have often lived on it for generations. These farmers are dependent on the land and its loss also means the loss of their home and livelihood.
After the screening on Friday Oxfam Novib Lobbyist Monique van Zijl, who has been fighting land grabs for years, will be present for a Q&A. Oxfam Novib wants the 10 largest food companies in the world to use their influence for a more fair food system. With their international Behind the Brands campaign, they put firm pressure on the "Big Ten” to address the injustice in their supply chains. Monique van Zijl knows all about the results achieved and the challenges yet to pay attention to.
No Land No Food No Life was screened at the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam, the largest documentary film festival in the world. The Food Film Festival collaborates with IDFA to bring you the best food documentaries. |
