Food Film Network
Proving that food inspires, a brilliant plan was hatched following visits to food film festivals in Madrid, Liverpool and Dubrovnik. In an effort to support and learn from each other, we are currently working to establish the international Food Film Network (FFN).
While in Madrid a film screening and cooking session share the same auditorium, in Liverpool the festival is held in locations across the city and in Dubrovnik the festival is largely outdoors and focuses on presentations, all three share the same ambition as the Food Film Festival in Amsterdam: to encourage a greater appreciation of food among consumers and to do so in part through film.
The fact that we are not alone is of course great but also something from which we can benefit. That’s why an FFF team visited all three festivals to get to know them and establish contacts. The trip was such a success that the FFF team took steps to build stronger links between the festivals with a view to helping each other. After all, whether it’s concept, programming or sustainability, you can never learn too much from others’ experiences. And so the idea for the Food Film Network was born.
The network’s primary task is to identify common ground between the founding festivals: the Food Film Festival in Amsterdam, Kinookus in Dubrovnik, Film & Cook in Barcelona and Madrid, Food for Real in Liverpool, and Krachtvoer in Antwerp. At the same time it can support new festivals that are just getting started. Contact has already been made with a festival in Ukraine, two in South Africa and another in New York.
The Food Film Network will be officially launched during the Food Film Festival in Amsterdam. Its presence will be felt both in front of and behind the scenes, and the international links will be strengthened.
