Farming on Crisis? + live screening
Documentary | Haris Donias | Greece | 2012 | 20 + 70 min | Greek spoken | English subtitlesVoorstelling: Sunday 24 March 13:45 | Studio/K 2
What kind of future will we have if only 7 per cent of European farmers are under 35? Who will produce our food? In 2011, the Youth Food Movement travelled across the Netherlands looking for answers. In 2012, we extended our search to Greece, shortly after the economic crisis struck.
Filmmaker Pavlos Georgiadis talks to young people from the city and countryside in an attempt to find an answer to the question: 'Is it possible to restart the Greek economy from the countryside?' His video blog became an instant hit: finally a positive story from Greece. He bridges the gap between large and small, urban and rural, global and local and shows how young Greeks are taking matters into their own hands.
The screening will be accompanied by a live interactive programme that includes filmmaker Pavlos Georgiadis and a Greek and Dutch Member of European Parliament.
The video blog is part of the FoodPoliticsEU international platform and won the prize for Best Short Documentary at the 2012 Arc Light Film Festival in Hollywood.
