Meet Carlo Petrini at the Food Film Festival
With more than 100,000 members in 153 countries, Slow Food has grown into an international organisation and even has its own University of Gastronomic Sciences. Founder Carlo Petrini is a special guest at this year’s FFF.
When McDonalds opened a branch in Rome in 1986, it was a hamburger too far for a group of friends from northern Italy. An American symbol of fast food in the heart of Italian culinary culture? In response the friends founded Slow Food, under the leadership of Carlo Petrini. Director Stefano Sardo made a film about Petrini and the Slow Food movement. In Slow Food Story, Sardo traces the history of the movement and the cultural revolution it has brought about.
On 22 March during a dinner for Slow Food members, Carlo Petrini will talk about the role of Slow Food in a changing world. Don't worry if you are not a Slow Food member, you can still meet the man. The screening of the film will be followed by a Q&A with Carlo Petrini and director Stefano Sardo.
